Check the fuel tank and replace the tank if it s damaged.

Replace the cap and see if it is still leaking. For the carburetor to work these pressures must be equal. Replace the fuel tank cap if its seal is damaged and leaking. Cleaned it out good.

If even a single thread becomes cracked or chipped it can cause fuel to leak out. If the vent hole is broken ripped open or clogged the gas may leak in other areas. Still does it just sitting there. In my shop is a poulan 2550 super clean chainsaw for a profuse fuel leak but what i wind up finding is a lot more based on my initial look.

I have a stihl chainsaw 028 that just fills up with fuel. Any help would be appreciated. Replace the fuel lines if they re leaking. Flip the cap upside down and inspect the vent hole which is usually in the middle of the cap on poulan s chainsaw.

When the gas inside your stihl chain saw fuel tank heats up it creates pressure inside the tank. Inspect the top of the gas cap and look for cracks but also inspect the threads on the underside of the cap. Move the chainsaw to a well ventilated area and check the fuel lines for cracks. The vent hole gets rid of heated gasses so it may be broken.

If fuel leaks from the carburetor rebuild or replace the carburetor to prevent gas from leaking. Fuel lines are good.
